Legrand Building Control Systems Relocates to Richardson, Creates National Service Center of Excellence to Support Rapid Growth

RICHARDSON, Texas – Oct. 5, 2017 – Legrand Building Control Systems (BCS), a leading manufacturer of energy efficient active and natural lighting controls and a division of Legrand, North & Central America, the global specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructures, has leased an approximately 42,000 square-foot facility at 2240 Campbell Creek Blvd. (Campbell Creek Pavilion) in Richardson. The office, located in Campbell Creek Business Park, will become Legrand BCS’ new Service Center of Excellence, providing critical operational support to the division’s nationwide operations, business partners, and customers.

The facility will initially house about 80 Legrand BCS employees who will be relocating from other facilities, including the company’s current Plano location and facilities elsewhere in the U.S. Legrand expects the new facility to house 100 employees by the end of the year, and ultimately accommodate up to 165 employees. Legrand BCS expects to take occupancy of the new facility in late 2017.

"In establishing this Service Center of Excellence, we wanted to stay in North Texas because the centralized U.S. location met a lot of our needs,” said Don Clark, vice president and general manager of services at Legrand. “In particular, we chose Richardson because of its high-energy business environment, availability of talent in the area, convenient access to major roadways and DART, as well as abundant restaurants and hotel amenities for our employees, customers, and business partners. This is an exciting time for our company. We are eager to join the Richardson community and continue our growth in support of human centric lighting trends and the continued movement towards net zero energy, high-performance lighting systems, and smart buildings and homes.”

Legrand BCS develops, designs, installs and supports dynamic lighting and shading control systems, including its well-known brands and product lines Wattstopper, Vantage Controls, QMotion, and Solarfective, for commercial and residential customers across North and Central America.

The company’s Service Center of Excellence will provide applications engineering support for project design and installation, support for the Field Services group’s start-up and commissioning of projects, and remote operations capabilities, enabling customer service representatives to use connected services to troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve issues throughout the life cycle of customers’ systems.

“As an innovator in the energy efficient lighting controls sector, Legrand is a welcome addition to our world-class business community,” said Richardson Mayor Paul Voelker. “Their establishment of the company’s first Service Center of Excellence here further underlines Richardson’s commitment to supporting growth-oriented, tech-savvy companies that are succeeding on a national and global scale.”

Kipp Collins, vice president with Binswanger, represented the tenant in lease negotiations. Chuck Sellers, principal with Avison Young, handled the negotiations on behalf of the property owners, Foundry Commercial and ICM Realty Group.
