Legrand’s ‘Elle’ Program Held Fundraiser to Support Development of Housing for Wounded and Disabled Veterans
West Hartford, CT
September 12, 2017
Legrand North America, an innovation leader in power, light and data technologies for homes, workplaces and data centers, is proud to announce they’ve recently raised more than $16,000 (USD) for Building Homes for Heroes, which will be used towards the construction of new homes for returning wounded and disabled veterans.
The money was collected as part of a fundraising program tied to the company’s Elle@Legrand conference. Established in 2015, the Elle forum was developed to empower women within the organization to succeed professionally and personally, as well as serve as an outlet for employees to network, identify opportunities for advancement, and shape and evolve the company’s culture.
In alignment with Legrand’s Better Communities program, the Elle@Legrand Steering Committee chose Building Homes for Heroes as the event's fundraising recipient. With more than 100 female employees attending this year’s conference, Legrand was able to raise a substantial amount to support the program’s focus on Better Homes. To date, Legrand has raised more than $270,000 to support Building Homes for Heroes. In addition to financial contributions, Legrand also donates product for the future homes specifically built to address the needs of the veteran recipient.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to raise money for such an important cause,” said Sneh Virdi, VP of Finance for Legrand’s Electrical Wiring Systems Division and President of Elle, Legrand North America. “We take great pride in working with an organization such as Building Homes for Heroes. At the root of our foundation, we feel the importance of helping support those men and woman in the armed forces that serve not only their communities but their country as well.”
Andy Pujol, president and founder of Building Homes for Heroes, was on hand at Elle@Legrand and accepted the donation on behalf of the organization. Additionally, Army Sargent Mary Herrera, a decorated veteran and recipient of a Purple Heart, gave a speech to attendees sharing her experiences and challenges as a veteran. Sargent Herrera was also recently the recipient of a new home in her home state of Arizona through Heroes program.
Building Homes for Heroes is committed to transforming and rebuilding lives by supporting brave individuals who were injured while serving our country. The non-profit organization builds or modifies homes to suit the veteran’s specific needs and gifts the home — mortgage-free — to them and their families.
